Our Story

Eyal-Portrait_edited.jpg

Shmoné is the newest concept by Eyal Shani and the Better Guys group, spearheaded by chef Nadav Greenberg. An intimate venue located on West 8th Street, Shmoné combines the flavors of Tel Aviv with the best local produce to bring something special to New York City.

The chefs are free to explore what every season has to offer, letting their inspiration feed the menu that changes daily. The freshest ingredients from Union Square Market are transformed into elegant Mediterranean-style dishes that push the envelope, while also celebrating tradition.

We offer a carefully curated wine list as well as a full bar, including a range of absinthe selections. Join us to experience food as art in this cozy atmosphere where we relax, stay late, and get back to basics.

Chef Eyal Shani

Shani was born in Jerusalem in 1959. His culinary passion was first instilled in him by his grandfather, an agronomist and a dedicated vegan, who exposed him to local markets, fields, and vineyards from a young age.

In 1989 he opened his first restaurant "Oceanus" in his home town of Jerusalem. There, he developed a unique culinary language based on regional Mediterranean products:

olive oil, fish, tahini, fresh seasonal vegetables and of course, the tomato.

Since opening his fine dining restaurant, HASALON, in Tel Aviv. Shani is now the inspiration and the leading chef of over 40 highly successful restaurants worldwide. Joined by his partner, Shahar Segal, the duo operates Port Said, Romano, Miznon, North Abraxas, HaSalon and Malka in Tel Aviv, as well as Miznon locations in Vienna, Paris, Melbourne, Singapore, New York & Boston.

He is considered to be one of the leading figures in the Israeli culinary scene, starring in the TV series "Food for Thought" and appearing on the panel of judges during the past six seasons of Israeli "Master Chef."
